From 80g of sugar to 2g, PLUS over 20g of a protein a piece! Now I totally understand why these Nutella buns went viral- they look amazing BUT I would never eat one. At over 1,000 calories and 80g of sugar, I know for a fact they are going to leave me feeling gross the whole rest of the day. PLUS thats half my maintenance calories and really just doesn’t fit the bill for my health goals. I’d honestly prefer to spend the calories on something a little more nourishing.

But with a few simple swaps we can take makes these buns more nutritious and macro friendly!
I tested a regular cinnamon bun recipe a few weeks back was able to keep the soft pillowy texture we all expect from a good bun, but making it much more macro friendly using a homemade Nutella.
You can find the recipe here https://2explorewellness.com/low-sugar-nutella-rolls/

I also have an easier alternative version that doesn’t involve roasting the nuts in the recipe notes.

And honestly, even using my cinnamon bun recipe but keeping the Nutella topping will still drastically reduce the calories and sugar content of this recipe.
