What food Shih Tzus can eat?

Quality is the key when feeding your Shih Tzu. This kind of breed is large in toy dog classification. Best for people who need a smaller type of dog. They also like to eat a lot and may cause them to get overweight quite easily.

Protein is greatly needed. As an example, you may give them meat or fish. Avoid giving them sweet treats or table scraps. Any kind of dog that you want to feed. You always need to give them enough nutrition by choosing a high quality dog food.

Here are some kinds of food that you can give them:

Blueberries
Whole chicken meat
Lamb
Fish
Sweet Potatoes
Potatoes
Peas
Cranberries
Yoghurt
Cottage Cheese
Brown rice

Puppies 3 to 12 months old: During the first year, first month of free-feeding is complete, Shih tzu should be fed 3 times a day.

Adults: 1 year and older: At least 2 meals per day. Highest will be three (mostly for people who always stay at home)

Shih Tzu puppy, based on age:

2 to 3 months: 1/2 to 3/4 cups per day
4 to 8 months: 1/2 to 1 cup per day
9 to 12 months: 3/4 to 1 and 1/4 cups per day

Shih Tzu adult, based on weight:

9 to 12 lbs. = 3/4 to 1 cup
13 to 16+ lbs. = 1 to 1 and 1/4 cup
