Makhana / phool makhana / lotus seeds/ fox nuts are extremely healthy and nutritious superfood that are excellent for a healthy body and weight loss. Makhana recipes are very easy to make and are favourite munchies or healthy snacks of many people including weight conscious celebrities. Makhana are made of lotus seeds or fox nuts that are roasted to puff them like popcorn. Makhana nuts are rich in protein and fiber , potassium and magnesium hence a great evening snack for patients with hypertension and cardiac disorders. makhana fox nuts have a low glycemic index hence are highly suitable for diabetics too. Makhana use are many like roasted makhana or fried makhana . Due to numerous makhana benefits its a very popular food.
Makhana can be made as chatpate makhane, mildly spiced, sweet flavored, makhana kheer, makhana laddus, etc. makhana food is easy to make and delicious to taste .Makhana nuts are also packed with many vitamins and minerals. I have shared very easy makhana recipes so you can try and enjoy this tasty evening snack along with a cup of hot tea.
Ingredients;
1. Fox Nuts – 50 gms
2. ghee 1- 2 tbsp
3. Salt to taste
4. Chilli powder to taste
5. Black salt 1/8 tsp
6. Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
7. Chaat masala 1/4 – 1/2 tsp
8. Mango powder (optional )
METHOD;
1. Dry roast the makhana till they are crisp and crunchy.
2. Add the ghee to the makhana/ fox nuts and roast for 20 seconds.
3. Add the dry spices and coat the makhana fox nuts by stirring continuously.
4. Transfer the makhana to a serving dish and they are ready to serve.
