How to make brown bread at home without yeast?
In this video, i show you how to make 100% wholewheat bread without yeast, butter or eggs.
This is very simple recipe which doesn’t require kneading. I have used buttermilk for the recipe. If you don’t have buttermilk, you can use curdled milk (the way we make paneer). Mix 500 ml warm milk with 2 tbs Lemon juice or vinegar and let it sit for few mins till it curdles completely. Use this mixture instead of buttermilk or you can use 5 tbs curd with and mix with water to make buttermilk.
Make sure you bake it as soon as you for the dough.
You can top this bread with oats or sesame seeds too. Cracked top actually means that its cooked properly. So, don’t worry if it cracks.
Depending on utensil, kadhai , oven brand and temperature, timing can vary. Check with skewer after 30 mins. If it’s not cooked through, then let it cook for 5-10 mins more.
Always let your bread cool down completely. I know, once its baked, you would be tempted to cut but if you cut while it’s still hot, steam escaping through it will spoil texture of bread badly. So, let bread cool with wet towel tied around it for few hours. Wait will be worth, i promise.
Bread stays well outside fridge for 2-3 days. In refrigerator, it stays well for a week.
