Makhana snack | Roasted lotus seeds | Phool makhana recipes

Makhana is nothing but lotus seeds/phool makhana/fox nuts. Makhanas are mostly considered as upvas recipes. Makhanas are a good source of antioxidants, protein, carbohydrates, fibre, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Makhanas/lotus seeds are also low in calories. Today, I am going to prepare healthy makhana snack with almonds. Lets see how to prepare makhana snack.

Ingredients
Lotus Seeds 50 gms
Ghee 2 tbsps
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds few
Green chillies 3 slits
Curry leaves few
Almonds 1/4th cup
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Salt 1 tsp
Pepper powder 2 tsps

Preparation
Heat 2 tbsps of ghee in a pan, add cumin, mustard and fenugreek seeds and fry a second. Then add slit green chillies and some curry leaves, fry for a minute. Next add almonds, salt and fry for a minute or two. Lastly add makhanas/phool makhanas/lotus seeds/fox nuts, turmeric powder and pepper powder and fry for 5 minutes. Yummy, spicy and healthy makhanas are ready to serve. You can store them in an air tight container too.
