Probiotics promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria and have been linked to a wide range of health benefits. Our South Indian Idli/Dosa batter is made by fermenting rice and lentils, which makes them rich in live cultures of good bacteria. Here is a simple yet healthy bread toast using Idli/Dosa batter.

Ingredients:
Idli/Dosa batter – 1 cup
Grated Ginger – 1/2 tsp
Chopped Onions – 1/2 cup
Curry leaves – a few
Chopped Cilantro – 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
Slightly toasted brown bread – 2 slices
Green chilli chopped – 1
Salt as needed
Oil or Butter – 2 tbsp

Method
1. Heat pan, add 1 tbsp oil, onions, ginger, green chillies and salt. Saute for a minute. Add Turmeric powder, Cumin powder and curry leaves. Saute well until onions are golden brown.
2. Add the mixture to Idli/Dosa batter and mix well.
3. Heat pan, add a tsp of oil or butter, coat toasted bread slices with batter on both sides and toast them on low-medium heat. Add a few drops of oil or butter if required.

Notes
1. Adjust the batter consistency similar to that of Bread Pakoras.
2. You can add more of your preferred veggies to the batter to make it tasty and healthier. I have kept the recipe simple here.
3. Ensure the bread is toasted on medium heat so that the batter is well cooked.
