Himachali Chana Madra, Healthy Indian Vegetarian Recipes by Cook On!

In this video you’ll learn Madra Recipe in hindi and english. Himachali Chana madra recipe is essentially Dahi Chane ki sabzi. It is also called Chickpeas in yogurt sauce. Chana Madra is a himachali dham. Himachal Pradesh Dham recipes often use yogurt as a base and use rice to give it thickness. Kabuli Chana Madra is one of the easy chickpeas curry recipes among other indian recipes vegetarian. Chana cooked in yoghurt gravy is also good source of protein. And to be fair, who doesn’t love chickpeas in creamy yogurt gravy? It can also be made with Rajma, that recipe is called Rajma Madra. Below you’ll the list of ingredients to make Chana Madra :

Chickpeas (Kabuli Chane) – 1.5 cups (soaked overnight)
(Optional) Red Kidney Beans (Lal Rajma) – 1/4th cup (Soaked Overnight)
Clarified Butter (Ghee) – 3 tbsp
Yogurt – 1.5 cups (Thick variety)
Bay leaf – 1
Green Cardamoms – 3
Black Cardamom – 1
Cinnamon – 1 inch
Cloves – 4
Black Pepper Powder – 6
Green Chillies – 2 (Chopped)
Cumin Powder – 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp
Red Chilly Powder – 1/2 tbsp
Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder – 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tbsp
Cardamom Powder – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Salt to taste
Rice Flour – 1 tbsp
Chickpeas stock and water – 700 ml.
