Full recipe
Ingredients
Whole wheat flour or “atta” – 4 cups
Active Dry yeast – 1/2 Tablespoon
Honey or maple syrup – 1/4 cup
Oil (canola or sunflower) – 3 Tablespoons
Salt – 1/2 Teaspoon
Warm Water – 1 & 1/2 Cup
Sugar – 1/2 Teaspoon
Method
Proof the yeast by adding it to warm water (100F – 110F) with the sugar as well. Let it activate and double in volume.
In a bowl add the wheat flour and pour in the yeast mixture, followed by honey, oil and salt. Combine everything and knead well to achieve a smooth and elastic dough. While kneading if you think the dough might be too dry then feel free to add a bit of water to adjust it. Knead the dough for at least 10 minutes and then brush some oil on top of it and place a cling film or plastic wrap on top of bowl. Leave the dough in a warm place to rise and double in size for about 45 minutes.
Meanwhile preheat your oven to 350F/175C.
After the dough rises take out of the bowl and knead for a minute on a flat surface. Grease and line your loaf pan with parchment paper.
Make a cylindrical shape of the dough in order to fit the loaf pan. Place it into the pan and press down to fit the sides of the pan. Loosely cover the loaf pan with plastic wrap and let the dough rise again (35 minutes) Once dough doubles in volume the bake it for 30-35 minutes on 350F. Cool the bread before slicing it.
