Chana Chaat Recipe:
For boiling Chana:
Chana – 1 Cup
Water – 3 Cups
Salt – ½ tsp
Potato – 1 no (medium-sized)

Other Ingredients:
Onion (finely chopped) – ½ Cup
Tomato (finely chopped) – 1 Cup
Green Chilli (finely chopped) – 1 tbsp
Coriander Leaves (finely chopped) – ¼ Cup
Chaat Masala Powder – ½ tsp
Red Chilli Powder – ¼ tsp
Cumin Powder – ½ tsp
Salt – ¼ tsp
Lemon Juice – 1 no
Roasted Peanuts – ½ Cup

For Topping:
Sev – ½ Cup
Pomegranate Seeds (optional) – ¼ Cup
Coriander Leaves (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp

Cooking Instructions:

1. Wash the Chana and soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight (this gives the best results!).
2. Drain the water from the chana. Add the chana to a pressure cooker along with salt and water. Using a fork, prick the potato and add it to the chana. Cook it for 5 whistles on medium heat.
3. Drain the chana and allow it to cool down. Mash it lightly using the back of a spoon.
4. Peel the potato and cut/smash it into smaller chunks. Add it to the chana.
To the bowl, add all the other ingredients and mix.
Transfer it to the serving dish and then top it with sev and coriander leaves. You can optionally also serve it with sweetened curd.

Cooking Tips:

1. This is a great snack to pack for yourselves or for your kids. It is very high in protein and healthy!
2. You can substitute the sev with crushed pani puri too. You can also add any other snack for a crunch. You may skip this too.
