Hi friends,
“Mom’s M#EveningSnack, #MasalaVada, #Munagaaku Garelu,
Hi friends,
Today I am sharing a #Healthy & #Tasty #Moringa #Vada #Recipe. I used a bowl full of freshly plucked Moringa leaves from my terrace garden. We usually call Moringa leaves as Munagaaku in Telugu, Moringai in Hindi, Drumstick Leaves in English. These are highly nutritious and tasty leaves. We can use these leaves to make many recipes like Dal, Curry, fry, roti, vada, tea etc., Drumsticks are the most essential ingredient of well-known South Indian Sambar Recipe. We can use drumstick flowers into our daily diet.
Moringa leaves has many medicinal values. We use these leaves to remove joint pains. In olden (till now) days elders use these leaves to make a bandage after heating up with rock salt and cotton fabric (especially at the knee joint). They believe it will remove any joint pains, if we repeat it at least 40 days. Because of these reasons many of us has a habit of planting a drumstick plant at our backyard (especially in South India). I planted a tiny plant on our terrace. Whenever I want to use Drumstick leaves, I simply pluck few of them and prepare a dish. Our favourite dish is Moringa Vada with a cup of Moringa or Green TeaChai (especially in the Sunday evening). So, today I want to share my favourite dish with you.
For this I used 2 bowls of freshly plucked Drumstick Leaves. I washed twice. If you bought it from the market thoroughly clean and soak in salt water for at least 15 mins. Then wash again with plain water and use.
Coming to the other ingredients….. I used a small amount of 5 C’s (Cloves, Cinnamon, Coriander, Chana Dal & Coriander leaves). I soaked Chana Dal (Split Chick Pea or Senaga Pappu) for 2 hours. Also used few green chillies (finely chopped), Onions (chopped) and Salt. I coarsely grinded dal and masala ingredients and added chilli, onions, chopped coriander and salt. I made small dough balls and gently pressed with palms. I dropped these vadas into hot oil one after another and fried till they turn into golden brown colour. I used Banana leaves in serving plates. Serve hot vadas with your favourite chutney or pickle or tomato sauce.
