it’s Wellness Wednesday and we are
focusing on sugar cravings and how to
get rid of them if you love sweets
you’re not alone the average American
consumes 17 teaspoons of added sugar
every day but according to the American
Heart Association men should eat no more
than N9 teaspoons daily and for women
the number is lower of course just six
well Don Russell’s here to help us curb
our sugar cravings and share some of her
favorite healthy recipes good morning
she’s a health and wellness expert and
the founder of eight greens we always
eat our veggies when you’re here good
morning please good morning so let’s
talk about I am a sweet tooth person as
a I say have a sweet mouth yeah yes I
feel like I have to have something sweet
after literally every meal so how how
can we get off that racket so this is
all about summer sugar cravings and I
have two recipes soup and cookies and
what these two recipe achieve in their
ingredients are a they help stabilize
our blood sugar level and two they help
clean out our gut and with those two we
won’t have the sugar Cravings sitting in
us are there times when you have more
sugar Cravings than times or like is
there any kind if your blood sugar level
spikes or if your gut is not clean cuz
then it’s just like craving the blood
sugar you know the the sugar I don’t
think my gut’s clean but okay let’s
start we’ll get it clean we’ll get it
clean know really okay so we’re going to
do cucumbers this is the beauty of this
cucumber recipe all it requires is a
blender us working moms we can do it yes
okay so cucumbers this isn’t sweet this
is to stabilize your sugar yeah yeah
okay so cucumbers are really good they
have the water and the fiber helps with
weight management and regulates your
blood sugar level
onions regulates your blood sugar level
avocado amaz fiber it’s a bit chloric so
be careful how many now should I worry
about like there’s I mean there’s an
avocado is high in fat is it not I know
but then you have the fiber which is
helping your gut that we’re talking
about what’s that Greek yogurt this is
Greek yogurt amazing probiotic everyone
in their mother should have probiotic
now we have mint and Dill amazing for
digestion okay then we have olive oil
all right also a healthy good fat now we
have apple juice I don’t want anyone
riding in barking about the sugar and
apples cuz you know what this is why
it’s family approved this is why your
children are having cucumbers onions
avocado Dill all right but is that like
regular apple juice at the stor is at
some kind of organic no sugar as regular
like let’s just be let’s just go keep it
real keep it real cuz then they’re going
to have all this a garlic clove and then
we literally whisk it up and this is
what comes out you add water to purify
more and now this oh you want to taste
this she’s standing this is what we do
in our family oh that’s good I’m
actually shocked sorry I didn’t think it
was you just drink it one I really like
it cheers I’m shocked Che it’s a chilled
soup how good is that Che oh my gosh and
it will really stabilize your sugar
craving and that’s what’s so important I
would eat that for lunch every day you
should it’s really nice okay okay so
here we have the no sugar kid approved
cookies they really do ex your kids like
these my kids inhale these okay I mean
like every week so the reason this is so
special is obviously no sugar so we
don’t have that like sugar Spike tears
with our kids two it’s really fun to
make with kids and three it is packed
with so much nutrients so here we
already have mashed bananas coconut oil
which is great because it lessens your
hunger do you use Brown bananas or
should you have a ripe banana you know
sometimes they use Brown yeah I would do
the in between just as long as you Mash
mash it okay cuz see this is what it
needs to look like right okay maple
syrup amazing sugar substitute almond
milk which is dairyfree and doesn’t mess
with your blood sugar level and then
almond flour which is great with fiber
now what I do with my kids is we just
use our hands and we actually like
getage would you try it with your kids
it’s fun I will but okay my kids hands
aren’t really I don’t really want them
in food to be honest got to first okay
now here is the amazing bit we have chia
seeds and flax seeds amazing for
digestion chia seeds help you not feel
as hungry you then have raisin amazing
for fiber pumpkin seeds amazing for
fiber GOI Berry which is a
Prebiotic cashews which is great with
health man Prebiotic different than a
probiotic I always think that’s a typo
yeah no no I’m going to actually you’re
you’re leading me into my next point oh
good now here this is a probiotic and
it’s probably for me the single most
important thing I do for my children’s
every day now children should have five
billion adults should have 25 billion
and if you have have a
capsule yes this one I don’t think opens
but you can open it and literally just
pour it in and now your children have
the prootic so you roll it all up all
right wow and now here is the drum roll
okay ready you give me the honest to God
truth I know that Savannah is no liar
that’s
true okay I like it you don’t love it
well you know I’m an Oreo person no but
actually they tastes very good it tastes
very good I might not have the raisins
oh really yeah I’m not a raisin person
but actually it’s good it’s nice like it
would be a nice little breakfast
something with your coffee okay cuz the
raisins add the the sweetness that make
your kids like it what do I know I mean
I you know you know a lot it’s fabulous
you have kids thank you so no sugar
Cravings really good I mean so much
