A lot of you have been asking me what I feed my 3-year-old in a day, and honestly, I was a little hesitant to share this. You know how it is — nazar, opinions, comparisons. But then I realised that this space feels like family, so here it is 💛

In this vlog, I’m sharing a realistic day of meals for my toddler — no perfection, no pressure. Starting with breakfast, we keep it simple and home-cooked. Today it’s suji cheela, but on different days we do moong cheela, besan cheela, omelette, dosa, onion uthappam, upma, oats, dalia and more. Feeding a toddler is never easy, and while baby-led weaning worked well for us initially, it eventually became tricky because little kids just don’t want to sit in one place! So yes, we play, distract and feed — because what matters most to me is that his tummy is full.

For lunch (which he carries to school), we usually pack something very basic — plain paratha, salted rice, poha or pancakes. Today, it’s a plain paratha. After school, on the way back home, I usually carry ORS, yogurt or coconut water, sometimes fruits or a few dry fruits. I try my best to avoid packaged foods, even the ones labelled “healthy” or “baked”. But at the same time, when we’re travelling, at a party, or at someone else’s home, I don’t restrict him completely — I don’t want food to become a fear or a forbidden thing.

Most days, we eat healthy. Some days, we indulge — and that’s okay. For evening snack, he usually has milk, boiled eggs and a banana or any fruit he’s in the mood for. Dinner is typically chicken with rice, or sabzi and roti. We also rotate different flours like makki, jowar and bajra. Today, it’s chicken rice.

He still doesn’t eat completely on his own, and I’m okay with that. Every child has their own timeline, and for now, this works for us. Maybe in another year things will change — but right now, it is what it is.

Thank you so much for watching. I truly hope this vlog helps, especially if you’re a fellow parent navigating toddler meals one day at a time 🤍
