RAGI SEMIYA UPMA | RAGI VERMICELLI UPMA | SPICY RAGI VERMICELLI | RAGI VERMICELLI RECIPE | HEALTHY BREAKFAST RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
Ragi Vermicelli – 1 cup
Onion – 1 cup
Chopped Green chilli – 2 tspn
Curry leaves – 2 strings
Chopped Ginger – 1tspn
Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
Mustard – 1 tspn
Urad dal – 1 tspn
Chana dal – 1 tspn
Cumin – 1 tspn
Asafoetida – 2 pinch
Oil – 1 tbsp
Salt – as required
Water – as required
METHOD:
1. Add water and 1tspn salt to vermicelli and soak for 2 mins.
2. Drain the water completely and then steam cook for 10 mins till it becomes soft.
3. Heat the pan and add oil.
4. Add mustard seeds. As mustard splutters, add urad dal , cumin seeds, chana dal, asafoetida and mix well till the color changes.
5. Add chopped green chilli , chopped onion , chopped ginger and curry leaves.
6. Stir-fry till the color changes.
7. Add required salt and mix well.
8. Add steamed vermicelli to it and mix completely.
9. Mix grated coconut to it and off the lid.
NOTE :
1. Do not soak the vermicelli for more than 3 mins.
2. Do not over cook while steaming.
3. Careful while adding salt as you would be adding twice (once while soaking and once while preparing upma).
