Crispy Corn Poppers are a quick and delicious snack made with sweet corn and soaked chana dal. These bite-sized fritters turn perfectly crunchy outside and soft inside. A perfect tea time snack, monsoon snack, or party appetizer that everyone will love.
Ingredients
* 1 cup sweet corn
* ½ cup chana dal (soaked for 2–3 hours)
* 1 small onion, finely chopped
* 2 green chillies, chopped
* 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
* ½ tsp turmeric powder
* 1 tsp red chilli powder
* ½ tsp cumin seeds
* Salt to taste
* 2 tbsp rice flour (for extra crispiness)
* Oil for deep frying
Method
1. Soak chana dal for 2–3 hours and drain the water.
2. Grind the soaked dal coarsely with sweet corn (do not make a smooth paste).
3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl.
4. Add onion, green chillies, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, salt, and rice flour.
5. Mix everything well to form a thick mixture.
6. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
7. Drop small portions of the mixture into hot oil.
8. Fry on medium heat until the poppers turn golden and crispy.
9. Remove and serve hot with ketchup or green chutney.
