DIY Protein Atta Made at Home
Mixed 85g whole wheat atta + 15g soya flour = 100g of protein atta.
Nutrition per 100g (approx):
Protein: ~16g (vs 11-12g in plain atta) – more importantly many brands sell protein atta and the protein ranges in 15-16g per 100g.
Energy: ~383 kcal
Carbs: ~68g
Dietary Fibre: ~9-10g
Fat: ~5g
Cost: I used wheat atta at ₹48/kg and soya flour at ₹190/kg → came out to ~₹69/kg for the mix.
Depending on the brands you pick, your cost can vary between ₹65-75/kg.
Compare this with branded high-protein atta selling at ₹100-200/kg with similar protein value. You save cost but more than that you control what goes in, and it’s easy to do at home.
You can try some other variants as well as per your liking:
Add 10-15% besan (chana flour) for a nuttier flavour and extra protein
Mix in ragi or jowar flour for added millet nutrition
Add a spoon of flaxseed or til powder for omega-3 and more protein
Some people also add moong dal flour or sattu
Start with 10% soya and scale up to 15-20% based on taste preference.
