Lobia dal that tastes exactly like your everyday dal chawal, but packs a serious protein punch 💪🍚

If you thought lobia (black-eyed peas) was boring, this recipe will change your mind — no fancy ingredients, no extra time.

☘️Nutrition per serving : ~17g protein, ~14g fiber, ~260 calories

• Lobia (black-eyed peas/chawla) – 150gm (soaked overnight)
• Hing – a pinch
• Haldi (turmeric) – a pinch
• Salt – 1 tsp
• Ghee – 2 tsp
• Jeera (cumin seeds) – 1 tsp
• Saunf (fennel seeds) – 1 tsp
• Khada masala – badi elaichi, bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom
• Onion, chopped – 1 large
• Ginger, grated – 1 tsp
• Tomato puree – 3-4 tomatoes
• Basic spices – haldi, dhaniya powder, red chili powder, amchur powder, salt
• Garam masala – 1 tsp
• Kasuri methi – a little
• Fresh coriander, chopped

Method:
1️⃣ Pressure cook soaked lobia ( 2 whistles) with little water, hing, turmeric, and salt.
2️⃣ Heat ghee and temper with cumin, fennel, and whole spices.
3️⃣ Add chopped onion and grated ginger, sauté well.
4️⃣ Add tomato puree and basic spices, cook the gravy for 5 -8 mins.
5️⃣ Add the pressure-cooked lobia, a little water if needed, and let it simmer.
6️⃣ Finish with garam masala, kasuri methi, and fresh coriander.
