Watli Dal || Masala Spicy Dal || Protein Rich Healthy Breakfast Recipe ||Bengal Gram Vatli dal Recipe ||Spicy Chatpata Chana Dal Fry Recipe :

It is one of the dishes from Malvani cuisine of the Konkan region of Maharashtra & Goa. Vatli dal is Marathi translates to grounded dal. Vatli dal is usually prepared as tea time snacks or breakfast recipe. It is protein rich healthy delicious spicy recipe.Generally this recipe is made in Ganpati and Mahagauri festival .

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup Bengal Gram/ chana dal,
1 tsp. Cumin Seeds,
1 tsp. Mustard Seeds,
6 to 7 Curry Leaves,
6 to 7 Green Chilies,
1/2 Inch Ginger,
2 to 3 tbsp. Oil,
1/2 tsp. Asafoetida / Hing,
Salt,
1/2 tsp. Turmeric Powder,
1 to 2 tbsp. Lemon Juice,
Freshly Chopped Coriander,
Wet Scraped Coconut.

PROCEDURE :

Soak 1 cup bengal Gram/ Chana Dal for minimum 4 hours to overnight. Drain out water completely.
Grind it with green chillies & ginger. Grind it coarse.
Heat a 2 tbsp. Oil in a pan, add cumin seeds & mustard seeds. Let them crackle. Now add curry leaves, asafetida / hing and turmeric powder and sauté for 30 seconds.
Now add Ground Coarse Bengal Gram and saute for 2 min.Now add salt here, stir mix. Then cover with lid and cook for 5 to 7 minute on low flame & stir in between. Add Lemon juice here.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander and fresh scraped wet coconut.
Vatli Dal is ready to serve.

Serve piping hot with curd and pickle.
