“Is there anything nicer than a silky smooth homemade custard? This one is flavoured with left over bread and marble cake and easier to make. This simple custard recipe is smooth and creamy. Perfect for dessert.
Ideally sized for a kids’ snack but worldly enough for a dinner party, it takes just 15 minutes of prep time and can be stored in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 3 days. (It’s even better the afternoon after you’ve made it.)

INGREDIENTS
¼ Cup Custard Powder
Milk 2 Litre
Saffron Threads
Sugar
Bread (Left Over)
Marble Cake

Step 1
Heat the milk in a saucepan nearly to the boil, be careful that it doesn’t boil over.

Step 2
Combine custard powder, saffron threads and 1/4 cup of the milk in a small mixing bowl. Whisking until smooth.
Step 3
Place custard mixture, sugar and remaining milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until custard comes to the boil and thickens. Simmer, stirring for 1 minute.

Refrigerate for at least 45 min before serving.

Ideas
Serve the custard with fruit, like chopped banana or berries.
Use the custard to make mini trifles.
Serve with piping hot apple crumble.
