“Sir, I have your idiot sandwich.” We tried the new lunch menu items at Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby in Downtown Disney. The lunch menu is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parker Rolls – $14

Warm Brioche, Whipped Butter

Parker Rolls

These rolls were the perfect texture. A mix of soft, chewy, and perfectly buttery. Tom said it was one of the best things he’s ever eaten.

Salt and Pepper Squid – $17

Lime & Coriander Aioli

Salt and Pepper Squid

This dish had a nice light breading, with a salt and pepper flavor reminiscent of a Chinese restaurant wing. The aioli is lightly citrusy, but has a great flavor, like the rest of the dish.

Idiot Sandwich – $24

Thrice-Fried Chicken Breast, G.F.C. Sauce, Brioche Bun, Dill Pickle, Choice of Fries or Salad

Idiot Sandwich

The name, “Idiot Sandwich,” is in reference to the scene in which Gordon Ramsay holds talk-show host Julie Chen Moonves’ head between two slices of bread while yelling at her. The scene became a popular internet meme that has been parodied many times.

Idiot Sandwich

This is a really big sandwich and very messy, but we were pleasantly surprised that the chicken was moist and tender, even though it was thrice-fried. This dish looks spicier than it actually is. It’s a more subtle spice. The bread is toasted, and the fries are good as well. The pickles are very vinegary, not like out of a jar.

Prawn Cocktail Roll – $26

Poached Prawns, Marie Rose Sauce, Avocado Purée, American Caviar, Malt Vinegar Crisp

Prawn Cocktail Roll

It’s a very messy and cold sandwich, but it smells nice and fresh. The chips are house-made kettle chips and are also very good.

The sandwich also wasn’t really fishy, even with the prawns, which was something we were worried about. The cucumber and avocado together were also light and fresh. The only thing we would change is maybe toasting the bread a bit.

Chickpea Tikka Masala – $29

Saffron Rice, Cilantro Mint Chutney, Garlic Naan (Vegan)

Chickpea Tikka Masala

The Chickpea Tikka Masala was packed with warm and bright flavors. Coriander and lime were the strongest standouts, and it had a nice heat on the back end. Nothing intimidating for those who are spice-averse.

We had to opt out of the yogurt drizzle that would normally accompany it, but the cilantro mint chutney paired well on its own. The mint brought more dimension to the bright flavors.

Chickpea Tikka Masala

The rice was well balanced with the sweetness of the golden raisins and spice of the saffron strands. Our only complaint was that the particular helping we received was a little dry, so it had formed a crust along the top. The naan was fantastic, being char-grilled, had a subtle garlic flavor, and was perfectly accented by some coarse salt. Overall, a near-perfect dish with a portion size to leave you more than satiated.

Blueberry “No” Groni – $15

Seedlip Garden 108 Botanical, Lyre’s Aperitif Rosso & Blueberry (Alcohol-free)

Blueberry

This tasted like a legitimate Negroni with a hint of blueberry. It has a bitter alcohol taste with a strong botanical element.

Peach & Basil Old Fashioned – $21

Elijah Craig Rye, Basil Sugar, Bitters & Peach Cotton Candy

Peach & Basil Old Fashioned

The cotton candy with this cocktail was a brilliant combination. The peach sweetness mixes with the rye wonderfully. The drink has a fresh, savory basil flavor and is well-balanced with a bit of a bite on the back end due to the whiskey. We really enjoyed this one.

Passion Fruit Royale – $23

Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Passion Fruit, Vanilla, Prosecco & Passion Fruit Bubble

Passion Fruit Cocktail

The drink was served in a tall, clear cocktail glass with a passion fruit bubble on top.

The bubble can then be popped, creating a mystical effect.

Passion Fruit Cocktail

This drink was tart with a subtle but sweet vanilla flavor. It’s very passion fruit forward, with the prosecco flavor strong on the back end.

Gordon Ramsay at The CarnabyGordon Ramsay at the Carnaby eatery in Downtown Disney. The eatery has white walls, decorative tiling, and an ornate orange and gold door.

Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby opened on July 13 on the west side of Downtown Disney District, near Disneyland Hotel. The 175-seat restaurant is located above the new permanent Earl of Sandwich location.

The restaurant takes inspiration from Carnaby Street and the cultural energy of 1960s London. Its interiors combine bold colors, British pop art, dark woodwork, murals, and a soundtrack featuring British hits from the era. Disney shared the first official look inside The Carnaby shortly before its debut.

The menu centers on Ramsay’s signature British dishes, including beef Wellington, fish and chips with triple-cooked fries, bangers and mash, cottage pie, and sticky toffee pudding. Other offerings include branzino, chicken Milanese, and chickpea tikka masala. A tableside prime rib cart serves hand-carved meat with Yorkshire pudding, roasted vegetables, and au jus.

Initial reservations sold out through September, prompting The Carnaby to increase its nightly capacity, expand its operating hours, and release additional reservations for the remainder of 2026.

Read our review of the restaurant here. We also had the opportunity to speak with Earl of Sandwich founder Robert Earl and Chef Damien Brassel about the development of The Carnaby.
