This video presents The truth about zero-calorie food

Zero-calories food won’t help you lose weight
Our bodies are complicated and it is not easy to explain how they work. So the calories in/ calories out way of calculation misses lots of nuance. The truth is zero calories foods can still lead to weight gain in several ways, according to our research at Eat This, Not That!

Your body burns a lot of calories when it tries to take in a pat of butter and makes it part of you. However, highly processed foods, which commonly contain zero calories, are so highly processed that your body doesn’t have to digest them. So they don’t let your body’s natural fat burners work.
They lead to inflammation, which causes weight gain. Absorbing chemicals into your digestive tract can cause irritants, which can mess up the body’s ability to absorb nutrients in food. Then the digestive system’s natural defenses come into play, causing inflammation. Inflammation also activates our fat genes, which increases belly fat
They interfere with our ability to regulate things we eat. For example, when you drink diet soda, the sweet taste of it causes your body to anticipate the arrival of calories. However, when calories don’t show up, it gets confused and triggers your hunger response to find those missing calories. You can find yourself end up eating a bowl of snacks to find those calories.

The truth about the most common zero-calorie foods

Butter Sprays
Butter sprays contains soybean oil, water with thickeners and artificial flavor enhancers. EDTA is also part of its ingredients, a substance that can mess up with our body’s nutrient absorption. The trick here is that the spray is zero calories if you use 1 spray only. But if you use 25 sprays, you’ve eaten 20 calories and 2 grams of fat, which means the whole bottle has 904 calories and 90.4 grams of fat. This fake-tasting spray is not worth your money! Try out fatty foods that make you skinny such as grass-fed beef, coconut, and dark chocolate. Pick the right kind of fat is the key.

Walden Farms Products
Walden Farms offers a product line of zero calories such as dips, spreads, and sauces like peanut spread, chocolate syrup, marshmallow dip, pasta sauce, and mayo. Let’s look into a case to see how the peanut dip is an example of what they consider preparing food in The Walden Way. The Walden’s peanut spread is claimed to replace high-calorie peanut butter. It contains water, vegetable fiber, salt and “natural fresh roasted peanut flavor” and artificial sweetener Splenda. It is an artificial flavor, not food. Like we said before, when you taste it, the body is confused about where the calories are, then triggers your hunger. Our advice is to skip these calorie-free sauces and find a real food version. Don’t forget to read the labels or else you’ll be dipping your food in sugar without knowing it.

Diet Soda

We all know regular soda is not good for our body, and we switch to diet cola so that we take in fewer calories. Calorically speaking that might be true, but diet sodas have side effects as well. Research from John Hopkins researchers shows that people who drink diet drinks eventually consume more calories from food than those who drink regular or sugary beverages. The researchers from the University of Texas Health Science Center conducted a separate study on mice indicating that the weight gain in people who drink diet soda is linked to aspartame. It raises blood glucose levels and when the liver can’t handle, the excess amount of glucose is turned into fat.

Zero Noodles
Here’s something different: Zero noodles made from glucomannan fiber has been shown to cause weight loss in numerous studies. The fiber is made from a Japanese root plant known as the Konjac plant and they’re real food, not chemicals! This food is filling and satiating but calories-free so it can replace rice and pasta. Thanks to their viscous fiber, zero noodles delay stomach emptying and help you stay full longer and end up eating less. Other studies show that glucomannan fiber can reduce LDL cholesterol and have impressive health benefits!
