Made with boiled black chickpeas (kala chana), fresh veggies, and classic Indian spices, it’s the ultimate plant-based snack you’ll keep coming back to!
This recipe makes enough around 4 medium sized patties. Ingredients:
1 cup soaked & boiled black chickpeas (kala chana)
1 medium boiled potato
2 finely chopped green chillies
1 small ginger knob, finely chopped
Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped (optional)
Red chilli powder (to taste)
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1.5 tbsp breadcrumbs (or rice flour)
Oil for frying
Method:
Soak & Boil: Soak 1 cup kala chana overnight. Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles until soft.
Mash & Mix: Coarsely mash boiled chana. Add boiled potato, green chillies, ginger, coriander, onion, all spices, salt, and breadcrumbs/rice flour. Mix well.
Shape: Form small round tikkis.
Cook: Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry or air fry tikkis on both sides until golden brown.
Serve: Place tikkis on a plate, top with curd, chutneys, sev, and pomegranate. Sprinkle homemade masala (see below) and enjoy!
