Spicy Phool Makhana Recipe ✅ Save & Share ✅

This is my favourite dish I make with Makhana. Initially I used to not like the flavour of Makhana and roasting it in ghee, spices and garlic was the perfect way for me to get used to it. Similar to how I make my Kara pori (Spicy murmura)

If you are like me and trying to include makhana, try this way.

You can use coconut Oil too in place of ghee for vegan option.

Spicy Makhana Recipe

3 cups Phool makhana puffed lotus seeds
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder Kashmiri
¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
Salt
2 tsp ghee for roasting

1 tablespoon Ghee Or use virgin coconut oil
3 cloves Crushed garlic Optional

📝 Instructions
In a pan, heat 1 teaspoon of ghee and add the phool makhana to it.
Toss occasionally and roast for 5 minutes or until crisp in medium flame.
Transfer to a plate and in the same pan, heat the remaining 2 teaspoon of ghee.
Add crushed garlic if adding and fry till fragrant.
Switch off the flame and add red chilli powder, turmeric and salt. Give it a mix.
Add roasted phool makhana and toss well to evenly coat.

📒 Notes
Adding crushed garlic is optional. You can skip it, but it gives the best flavor.
This can be consumed during fasting periods and garlic should be avoided.
Healthier alternative to red chilli powder is black pepper powder.
Kashmiri chilli powder is brighter in color and less spicy.
