Ingredients
For Dhokla
Moong Dal / Splits Green Gram – 1 cup, soaked (1 hour)
Besan / Gram flour – 2 tbsp
Curd – 1/4 cup
Green chilly – 2-3 no.
Ginger – 1 inch
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Fruit salt – 1 tsp
For Tempering
Oil – 1 Tbsp
Green Chilly – 1 no. (slit)
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Hing / Asafeotida – 1/4 tsp
Til / Sesame Seeds – 1 tsp
Lemon Juice – 1/2 NO.
Sugar – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Water – 2 tbsp
Method of Preparation
1. In a grinder, add moong dal, green chillies and ginger. Grind into fine paste.
2. Transfer the mixture in a bowl, to this add besan, salt, turmeric, oil and curd. Mix well. To this add fruit salt, and mix gently.
3. Transfer the mixture immediately in a greased vessel. Cover the lid of the steamer and steam for 15 mins.
4. Demould the dhokla once cooked. Cut into pieces of desired size.
5. Prepare the tempering. In a small pan, add oil, green chilly, hing, mustard seeds, sesame seeds, lemon juice, sugar and water. Stir it once. Add this tempering on the dhokla. Garnish with coriander.
6. Tasty and Healthy Moong Dal Dhokla is ready to eat
This dhokla recipe is easy and tasty. Such healthy and light snack item can be good option for weight loss, diabetes or cardiac patients. Its easy to digest compared to full gram flour dhokla recipe as this has moong dal in it. Also its very soft and spongy as seen in the video.

Tips
1. Instead of using fruit salt, if one has time it can be fermented overnight. Just add little curd to the batter for better fermentation. This will increase its nutritional value.
2. Sugar can be skipped while preparing tempering, can add honey but not while preparing the tempering but over the dhokla without any heating process.
3. The taste of dhokla turns out well if the curd is little sour.
