Today’s recipe is a ghavan or dhirde. Traditional Maharashtrian ghavan or dhirde is made from rice flour. But today we are going to additionally use healthier ingredient which is sprouted moong beans.

Moong beans are superfood which have a great combination of protein, fibre, carbohydrates, iron, manganese and vitamin B. Essential amino acid present in moong beans increases when they sprout up. Sprouted moong contain huge amount of antioxidants which may reduce risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. It also helps to control LDL cholesterol levels.
Moong sprouts help in boosting blood circulation by maintaining red blood cell count with significant amounts of iron and copper.

This ghavan recipe is made with sprouted moong beans. It also contains rice flour which serve as binding agent for ghavan.

It is easy and quick vegan recipe which you can enjoy with any chutney that you like or tomato sauce.
It is easy breakfast recipe. It is also good recipe for kids lunch box.

Ingredients:-

1 cup – Sprouted moong beans
2 inch – Ginger
2-3 nos. – Garlic cloves
2-3 nos. – Green chilli
1/8 cup – Rice flour
4 tsp – Oil
1/4 cup – Water

Instructions:-

1. In a blender, add sprouted moong beans, ginger, garlic, green chilli and water.
Blend it to get a smooth batter.

2. Pour this batter in a bowl, add rice flour and give it a quick mix. Adjust consistency with water and batter is ready.

3. On hot tawa, spread some oil and pour moong batter and spread thickly.

4. Add some oil on to the ghavan and roast for 1-2 minutes till it gets cooked properly from both the sides.

Sprouted moong ghavan is ready to serve with any chutney or tomato sauce.
