Hello!! Welcome to Crystal’s Cuisine!

In this video I am going to show you how to make a whole wheat bread using real simple recipe. This recipe uses basic ingredients you will usually find in your pantry. Process it simple too and you do not need a mixer to make this bread. Let your fingers work the magic!

It is a simple whole wheat / atta flour bread recipe and even a beginner or amateur baker can get it right. All purpose flour is used in this recipe which is to get a leavened texture in the bread since only using whole wheat flour would result in a denser bread texture.

Lets get started.

In a large bowl combine
2 cups whole wheat flour,
1 cup all purpose flour,
1 tablespoon sugar, I’ve used dark brown sugar,
1.5 tea spoon of salt,
and
2 teaspoons of quick rise yeast.

I have used Fleischmann’s quick rise yeast. This yeast requires only one rise. Instant/rapid rise/quick rise yeast can be mixed right into dry ingredients, while active dry yeast needs to be dissolved in water before using. If you are using active dry yeast please refer to the instructions on its package as the rising time may vary.

Heat one cup of water to 50 degrees Celsius. I heated it in microwave.
Now mix the water into dry ingredients.
Also add 2 table spoons of oil at this point along with water.
I missed it, so added it later.

Knead the dough well until it is soft. Knead it over lightly floured flat surface. You’ll need to knead it at least 50 times or for around two to five minutes. The more you knead the better the texture of bread will be. So do not skip it.

Once you are done kneading keep the rounded tucked dough ball in greased large bowl. Coat the dough ball with oil.
Cover the bowl with cling wrap or cloth. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile grease a 8×4 inch loaf pan.
After 10 minutes have passed, roll out the dough and shape the dough into a loaf form by folding edges as shown in the video.
Place it in the greased loaf pan and cover with the same cling wrap or cloth used earlier.
Place this pan in a warm place. I kept it in the oven with light on.
In an hours time the dough will be doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit/190 degree Celsius.
Bake the bread for 50 minutes.
Once 50 minutes are over remove the bread from the oven and smear the top with butter. This will make the crust soft. You can allow the bread to sit in the pan for five minutes (it will continue baking outside the oven).
Now remove the bread from the pan and allow it to cool.
Once your whole wheat bread is cooled to room temperature cut it and enjoy!!

This whole wheat bread / atta flour sandwich bread is healthy and scrumptious, and it is vegan too. You could use it in your favorite breakfast recipes (french toast, bread omelette etc).

As you can see the bread in the video looks a bit dense. It has turned out so since I had cut down on kneading time. However, it tasted good. I do not recommend cutting down on kneading if you are particular about the texture.

Believe me its an easy recipe and yields good result. So please give it a try. Hope this recipe has inspired you to bake your own homemade whole wheat bread!

Thank you for watching!
