#earlyfoodsrecipe **Bajra Veggie Khichdi**

Bajra is a great millet to add to your loved one’s diet. They are an excellent source of iron. Bajra is recommended for pregnant & breastfeeding moms for its dense nutrient content.

Bajra Khichdi is a healthy option that can be made for lunch or for your kids tiffins too. It is quick and easy to make in a pressure cooker.

Ingredients:

– 1 cup Bajra (soaked)
– ½ cup Moong Dal
– 1 tbsp cold pressed oil
– 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
– 1 Bay Leaf
– 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
– 2 Cloves
– 1 garlic clove minced
– Ginger chopped
– 1 Onion
– 1 Tomato
– ½ cup chopped veggies ( beans, carrot, peas, potato)
– ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
– 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
– 1 tsp Coriander & Cumin Seed Powder
– ½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
– 2 Green Chillies (chopped)
– Salt
– ½ – ¾ litres of water
– 2 tbsp Ghee
– Coriander Leaves

Method Of Preparation:

– Soak bajra overnight in enough water
– Add oil in a cooker
– To it add & fry all the whole spices, jeera for a few minutes
– Add the green chilies, curry leaves & fry
– Next in, you add ginger & garlic
– Fry till the raw smell of garlic goes away
– Toss in the onions & fry for a few minutes
– Add in the tomatoes, and let it cook for a bit
– Now add in the veggies. Give everything a good mix
– Add the spices – turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander & cumin powder, red chilli powder & salt
– Add the soaked bajra & moong dal, next
– Mix well. Add water
– Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles
– Let the pressure release naturally. Transfer to a bowl
– Garnish with coriander leaves
– Add ghee just before serving!
