Bread slices stuffed with spicy mixture dipped into gram flour batter and tawa fried to make these delicious pakodas.
JAIN TAWA BREAD PAKODA
Ingredients
8 brown bread slices
½ cup gram flour
2 raw bananas, boiled and peeled
½ cup mixed finely chopped bell peppers
1 medium tomato, seeded and finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves
1 teaspoon chaat masala+ for sprinkling
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Butter as required
Coriander chutney as required
½ cup finely chopped cabbage
1 teaspoon carom seeds
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
Oil for shallow-frying
Method
1. To prepare stuffing, combine raw bananas, mixed bell peppers, tomato, chopped coriander, chopped mint, chaat masala, chilli powder and salt in a bowl and mix well.
2. Take 4 bread slices, spread butter and chutney over them. Add stuffing and cabbage over them. Sprinkle some chaat masala and cover with the remaining bread slices.
3. Combine gram flour, carom seeds, turmeric powder and salt in a bowl. Add some water and mix well to make a smooth batter.
4. Cut the prepared sandwiches into small triangles.
5. Heat oil on a non-sticktawa.
6. Dip each sandwich triangle in the prepared batter and shallow-fry till golden and crisp from both sides. Drain on absorbent paper.
7. Serve hot
Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes
Cooking Time: 8-10 minutes
