Rasam – a quintessential need for any South Indian home, can be made in numerous flavours. Our take on a simplified Tomato Rasam – Light, Healthy & Essential. Hope you enjoy !

Ingredients: (for approx 600 ml of Rasam)
To make Rasam Base:
Tomato – 3, Garlic – 4 cloves, Coriander leaves – a few,
Salt – as per taste, Asafoetida (Hindi: Hing/ Tamil: Perungayam) – a pinch
To make Rasam Powder:
Coriander (Dry seeds) – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilly – 1 or 2 as per taste
Black Pepper corns – 1/2 tsp
Cumin – 3/4 tsp
Curry Leaves – a few
For seasoning:
Oil – 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek (Tamil: Vendhayam) – 1/4 tsp

Important Note:
1. We recommend mashing by hand in traditional way, for better taste.
2. Remember that consistency of Rasam is a thin and clear soup. Ensure that enough water is added to reach almost the pouring consistency of water
