Kinnathappam is a traditional and authentic recipe of Kerala. It has the rich flavours of coconut milk and healthy as its steamed. No oil recipe. It is also known as vella kinnathappam.
Adding of egg is compeletely optional. So it can be a made as a vegan recipe as well.
The texture is as soft as cotton and just melts in your mouth. Sharing tips and tricks to make them just perfect at home.

Ingredients

Basmathi Rice (Any raw rice) – 1cup
Coconut milk 1 (first/Thick) – 1cup
Coconut Milk 2/3 (Thin) – 2cups
Sugar – 3/4 cups
Salt – a pinch
Cardamom – 4 pods
Cumin seed – a pinch
Egg(options) – 1
Ice cubes – 4-5
*Adjust the quantity of coconut milk(by 1-2 tbsp) according to the consistency of your batter
*My cup measurement is 250ml
*While steaming cover the plate with aluminium foil, to avoid vapours or droplets fall into kinnathappam and it will spoil the texture.
