Moong Dal Salad is also known as hesarbele kosambari. This is a simple and easy South Indian salad. Veggies like carrots or cucumber are also added. The addition of fresh coconut is one of the highlights of kosambari and it does make a lot of difference to the final dish. A tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves adds to the flavour of this salad. Let’s check out how to make this delicious healthy salad.

Ingredients
Moongdal 3/4th cup
Oil
Curry leaves – few
Green chillies – 1
Asafoetida – A pinch
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Salt
Freshly grated coconut – ½ cup
Coriander leaves – few
Lemon -½

Preparation Time: 1 hr
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 1 hour 10 mins

Step 1

Soak the moong dal for an hour and keep it aside.

Step 2
Add oil to a pan. Let it heat, add mustard seeds, asafoetida. Add green chillies, curry leaves.

Step 3
Remove the water from the moong dal and add the tempering, coriander leaves, freshly grated coconut, salt and lemon juice.

Step 3
Mix all the ingredients well and serve it as an evening snack.
