As we transition into the Bengali New Year, I’m sharing a glimpse of my traditional and healthy lunch platter. This meal is designed to be cooling, nutritious, and packed with seasonal flavors that help our bodies adjust to the rising summer heat. ☀️
In this video, I’ve prepared a variety of classic dishes, from crispy fritters to the soul-soothing ‘Sajne Datar Chorchori’ and a refreshing ‘Kacha Amer Toker Dal’. These recipes are perfect for anyone looking for quick yet authentic meal ideas.
Ingredients & Recipe Highlights:
• Ol shakh : leaves dipped in a light gram flour (besan) batter with nigella seeds and green chilies, then fried until golden.
• Sajne Datar Chorchori (Drumstick Mixed Veg): A seasonal medley of drumsticks, potatoes, pumpkin, and eggplant cooked with mild spices. Drumsticks are excellent for immunity during this weather change!
• Kacha Amer Dal (Raw Mango Lentils): A thin, tangy yellow dal tempered with mustard seeds and dried red chilies—the ultimate summer comfort food.
• Bitter Gourd Fry: Thinly sliced and sautéed to balance the flavors of the meal.
Serve these with a hot bowl of steamed rice for the perfect festive lunch.
