This coconut milk dal is pure comfort!

Ingredients –
3 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
5-6 garlic cloves
1 inch ginger
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup masoor dal, soaked
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
3 dry red chillies
1/2 litre water
Salt to taste
1 cup coconut milk
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp freshly chopped coriander

Method –
Heat oil and splutter cumin seeds. Add garlic, ginger and onion, and sauté till the onions turn soft and translucent.
Add soaked masoor dal, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and dry red chillies. Pour in water, add salt and mix well. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Once the pressure releases, add coconut milk and chopped coriander. Bring the dal to a gentle boil, switch off the flame and finish with lemon juice. Mix well and serve hot with rice or bread of your choice.
